Police Suppression of the Youth Movement in Umm al-Fahm is Barbaric and a Seizure of Our Right to Life

Press Releases

Mizan Human Rights Center in Nazareth condemns the barbaric actions of the police and their brutal suppression of the protesters against violence and crime in Umm al-Fahm. Mizan considers the police’s actions as an assault on the natural right to demonstrate for life, against the growing violence and crime, and the continued bloodshed, with more victims falling in full view of the police, who have failed to act against the criminals. Meanwhile, the police savagely attack peaceful demonstrators in our cities and villages.

Mizan added that the right to protest for life is a right guaranteed by all international conventions, yet this right is suppressed by the Israeli police, who turn a blind eye to crime and criminals.

Mizan calls for an organized legal mobilization of all human rights institutions to document the brutal assaults by the police on peaceful demonstrators and to hold the abusive officers and their superiors accountable legally, both locally and internationally, starting with the Minister of Public Security, continuing with the Commissioner of the Police, and all the way down to the officer committing the abuse in the field.
